Unlawful Assembly declared in Huntington Beach—Seal Beach Police assisted other departments
By Andrew Ficke
Tensions were high in Huntington Beach last Sunday, as hundreds of demonstrators gathered to protest a “white lives matter” rally. While many protesters were peaceful, violence broke out between several groups, causing an increase in arrests and police presence. As the situation escalated, large groups of protesters marched towards the Huntington Beach Police substation, as officers from the Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Orange County Sheriffs, and other departments moved in to guard the building. Authorities eventually declared unlawful assembly, as outspoken demonstrators from multiple groups continued to incite violence.
